Wild Voyager Padded Shooting Matt

Today I was finally able to make it out to the gravel pit where I practice my shooting. Although the roads were still pretty muddy the pit itself is a lot of crushed rock so it made it pretty dry but also made it the perfect spot for testing out this item.

The Matt.

The Wild Voyager Padded Shooting Matt is 147cm long, 74cm wide and 8mm thick. What does that mean to the average bear? Well at 5’10, when I was laying on the matt in the prone position, my heavy points of contact (knees and elbows) were perfectly lined up with the two strips of non-slip material. So from what I see, they took the two points of friction for the average size male and put in a non-slip strip. Seems like a pretty smart idea to me.

Continuing with smart ideas, they set up the Molle system in the front part of the matt, so if you’re looking to keep your shooting site organized, and keep things from being moved around you have the option to strap it down and all with in arms reach when you’re shooting.

Now when most people think shooting matt, I’m sure they imagine some massive carpet or yoga matt looking thing for them to carry around. But with the Onetigris shooting matt you get none of that. In fact what you do get is a compact tactical matt that is designed for easy storage and use. You can use the very simple handle or attach it to any pack. It takes less than 30 seconds to get it laid out and the same time to get it packed back up.

Possible tweaks.

Although the shooting matt in general is great, there are some minor tweaks that may help out.

1. Wings – yes I said wings. When some people get ready to shoot they will line up either straight on to the target or angled. When a shooting angles their body they are pointing somewhat diagonally away from the target and shoot across either left or right of their body. You can turn the shooting matt if you want, but a possible nice feature could be a pair of fold out wings to widen the matt for the shooters legs that now go across the matt.

2. This would be more of a suggestion to buyers then to the actual company, but to purchase some water proof spray and spray the matt down at least on the under-side to help protect it more.

I found this matt to be very comfortable. In a rocky quarry laying on various shards of rock and dirt, one might not think this to be a comfortable setting for shooting. However with the matt I felt none of the bumps and stones beneath me. In fact I found shooting on it to be very comfortable and where the weight on my elbows and knees during firing, but still very comfortable. Good product, solid price model. The stitching and material are tip nitch, no frayes all clean and perfectly sewn together. This is the typical high standard of quality I have come to expect from Onetigris.

Hi guys, sorry for little bit late review but hope you all understand that my friend was on first place because of very hard and almost deadly injury. Get well soon @Ghostbuster.airsoft

Gear review – WILD VOYAGER Padded Shooters Mat

Function of this padded shooters mat is to ensure maximum stability, safety and operation of shooter. Used this mat for airsoft and must say that is very usable on fields where snipers are stationary and have great overview of fields. Mat have built-in molle system in front and can offer you customization with your own pouches where it is very easy to store magazines or any other needed stuff. You will receive mat in light protection bag which is easy to carry and you can store your mat inside. (Photo 1, Photo 3)

When we are here for style it doesn't mean lot to you because it is made to be used in hard conditions, providing you softer terrain because of padding. Because of that padding mat is perfect to use on uneven terrain and also on rocky parts of fields. I was using pad for 2 hours shooting to target and must note that comfortability is very nice and even terrain was hard there was nothing I could note that is problematic. (Photo 5, Photo 6)

Mat is made from durable material, easy to use, easy to wash and most important, when you are lying on rocks and uneven terrain you can't feel any problems.

You need only 15-20 seconds to spread mat and start using it. Also it is approximately 30 seconds to store it again.

Mat has built in straps which can also be used to attach to your backpack and easy to carry around.

When we came to size, I am 197cm and didn’t have any problems with using mat. When I put my backpack to stabilize sniper then backpack was on ground. If backpack is little bit on mat then my knees will go on end of mat or even out as visible from photo 16.

I must note that great thing is non slip material where should came your elbows and knees so that is big plus because you are sure that you won’t slip just before you push trigger.

SUGGESTIONS for IMPROVEMENT:

1) My opinion is that mat could be 10-15 cm longer just in order to have your knees on mat when you use backpack or something similar to stabilize your rifle.

2) Better quality protection bag because I break mine on second using (broken end of zipper) – if it is only transport bag than no need to improve this.

Overall rating: 9,5/10

Yes you can do that as well. Lol. However the wings thought was a fold out piece of material so the matt stays straight on but then you could u fold a side wing that gives a bit more room on the lower half.
then must be this way. please see the pic below.

based on the feedback you guys provided. we will improve it in the way as the pic blew. to make that there has enough space when shooting, we extend both the front and back place so that it will be more comfortable to turn.

Not a fan of the wings system...maybe it's good for airsofter but for target shooting it's kinda useless because you don't move that much... Thanks for the grommets! Still thinking you should add plastid "D rings" on the straps so allow quick clipping to a bag with a carabiner or add a bandoulier to keep the hands free (big chance you'll have a gun in your hands!)

Hi Andy, from my expirience there is no need to add wings for hands because you have enough space. As I discussed with @Ghostbuster.airsoft this mat is slightly wider than non-padded

SUGGESTIONS

1. The lower part of the shooters mat could be slotted or filled in some places or margins with a bit of rubber, because in my opinion too many slider shooters mat on asphalt and concrete surfaces where u cannt imobilize it .

2. Lack of space in the upper part, all of these things are the same in the upper and lower part, but if you stretch the heel portion on both sides by 10 cm so that the elbows are not out on dirt would be a great advance in comfort and look at progress and innovation. (img 3753 to see what im talking about )

3. Positioning the pocket beside molle with the possibility of closing, it would be a great inovation because you can not watch where the chartridges fly and whether they will hurt something of your belongings. Or u can just put some prersonal belongings and close it up while u are seting up targets to shoot.

All in all, the rating for this product is 9 out of 10. (my personal oppinion)
I would like to fill the lack of elbow seats and a little more space on top, but it was a great thing and it was my turn to do a review.

Woud bring it on shooting police event on 14. and 15. april and will take review from proffesional staff of police . STAY TUNED
But from his feedback, he said lack of space in the upper part.
Possible improvements: I would add 25 centimeters more fabric on the side. As seen in the photos, the width of the blanket is a bit short.
And @Tacmen also give the same feedback.

So which way is better to solve this problem? Any suggestions for this?

Hm, that is interesting.
When we are talking about padded mat.
My colleague from military (professional sniper) told he would like to have bit longer, nothing for width. As you can saw from my review photos, only length is bit problematic.

Regarding non-padded mat, it could have more fabric on sides. It could be a bit messy if you have wings and harder to use so maybe best solution would be to add some width on whole side? Yeah, that would be probably more expensive but you will have better product.

Its because there's a big difference between a "real rifle shooter" and an "airsofter shooter".... Airsofter tends to move a lot to have a maximum of "kills" and most of the time they are shooting "moving targets".....The real rifle shooter will shoot (most of the time) non-moving paper target so moving isn't necessary... I'm not a "professional sniper" but from what i read, they need to stand still a lot (gathering intel is a big part of the job) so we can say they don't move that much....

On a funny note.... i think most of the airsofter just want to keep their clothes clean and that's why they want a wider mat! You know.... Some airsofter are real diva! They need a perfect color matching gear and love to take pictures in front of the mirror, and you can't do that in a dirty uniform! :ROFLMAO:

Hahahaha...last sentence really make me laugh...not one of them mate, I am one of dirty ones...big and deep muddy creek is nothing for me, or some river band...doesn't matter

But if you look also pro sniper from army, yes they don't move but need to put arms on mat. Look at @Ghostbuster.airsoft photos to see what we are talking about
