I'm hoping I can get out for some interior camping this year and my pup will be a big one year old by the time is be going. He's already mostly full size and 74lbs.

That said, I'm wondering what people are using fear wise for their dogs.

What harness?
What add-ons?
Any extra gear?

Pictures welcome!

I was looking Firewatcher harness. Maybe that's too small to include pouches for the little dude to carry his own food, bedroll, maybe a first aid pouch.

I don't quite see what I want ideally on this site, but maybe I'll draw up some plans for the development.

Hey, if possible, please could you provide the measurements of your dog? So I can help you to confirm which harness or vest can fit your dog better and you can attach the pouches on it.

Below is a video about how to measure your dog correctly for the harness/vest:

Hey there!

Thanks for the help.

Collar: 18"/46cm
Chest: 33"/84cm
Body Length: 31"/79cm (-2" for comfort is 29"/74cm)
Weight: 74lbs

I've been thinking firewatcher for the front fit. It's got great reviews for not sliding around the body. It's a tad short for what I was thinking though.

I'd like to start with something for this year and then I may even end up doing the design I have ideally in mind for this.

Is the firewatcher suitable to camping? Any recommendations for molle additions so he can carry some of his own supplies. I'm namely thinking he'll carry some of his food, a couple compact toys and our first aid kit.

Thanks again,
Shawn

You can check out these for K9 camping to carry supplies: (note that it's lower neck girth and not collar girth as the harness will be fitted around chest)
  1. https://www.onetigris.com/mammoth-dog-pack.html
  2. https://www.onetigris.com/dog-harness-038.html
  3. https://www.onetigris.com/tactical-dog-pack-01.html
As for pouches to go with the FIRE WATCHER (size M/L both work for your pup for now but best to wait until he's fully grown), these pouches would fit:
  1. https://www.onetigris.com/tactical-pouch-07.html
  2. https://www.onetigris.com/canine-edc-pouch-1.html

I'm curious if anyone has experience interior camping and can make recommendations for best use, warnings, things that may not work that many people try. I want my buddy along but I want him comfortable and safe too.

Also, are there any other grey add ons? I like the firewatcher grey harness but I'm not sure if there's much available to match.

Also, are there any plans for the amazon.ca store to open up again? As someone else pointed out, it's much higher with conversion to order directly from Onetigris in USD than to pay thighwr sticker price on amazon.ca
I was going to buy the firewatcher until it became unavailable.

Thanks

Dog-specific first aid items recommended by the U.S. Forest Service:
  1. A bandana for a makeshift muzzle
  2. Tweezers for tick removal
  3. An emergency fold-up blanket for treating shock or cold
  4. A folding multitool that has needle nose pliers for extracting a large thorn or a porcupine quill
  5. Booties for protecting injured paws (try toddler socks!)
  6. A small first aid book with instructions for treating pets
  7. The name, phone number, and directions of a nearby veterinarian or pet emergency clinic
Useful gear we'd recommend: Dog backpack, bungee leash (5ft or 6ft), collapsible bowl, dog sleeping mat, coat blanket, tent.

This article from backpacker.com has some pretty useful tips in the second half of the article: https://www.backpacker.com/skills/the-manual-take-your-dog-hiking

Some further readings from 1TG:
  1. Hiking With Dogs
  2. Hammock Camping With a Dog
  3. Canine First-aid Kits
***

As for grey add-ons, we've only got this pouch and it's more for holding small hand tools so you should see what you're planning to carry. We would still recommend this one: https://www.onetigris.com/canine-edc-pouch-1.html

***

Our Amazon.ca shop will be restocked in a month starting with dog gear. It's been a long first half of 2020 with so many service disruptions:cry:

Hey there!

I see that the amazon store is back up for canada.

Could someone confirm if this is the firewatcher? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07CGZGCVR...olid=1P08SHDHREF7F&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

It's hard to tell with the different dog pics. I was aiming to get the grey one myself.

If not, will the firewatcher be online for Amazon.ca?

I've found the conversion and higher potential for tariffs to order from US webstores are a far cry from the Canadian focused marketplaces like Amazon.ca

Thanks,
Shawn

Affirmative, that's the FIRE WATCHER! Not quite sure why the grey variation is sitting there by itself and am waiting to hear back from Sales Dept.
